Rich - Isn't that the way it goes with house projects. Pull up one little thing, which leads to something bigger that needs attention, and then to something bigger... Good luck with the repairs.

Not exactly a hobby ...
Don't think this counts as a hobby, but my recent project involved doing a little deck repair(1)

Deck repair exposes more ...

that led to discovering a host of problems with my home's structure(2).Hidden horrors

So, shore, remove, treat, replace. That's a 6"x22"x30' solid fir beam by my shoulder (3) that I am trying to save as it holds up the second story.

Probably won't turn out as pretty as yours, tho, Max

I haven't unwrapped it yet (still sorting out the clay and glazes and stuff) -- I will do so sometime in the next couple of days and post some more pics.
