As always, this week's All Programmable Planet (APP) live online chat -- which will be held on Thursday, February 7 -- promises to be a rip-roaring, fun-filled, roller-coaster thrill ride of thrust-and-parry ideas. (Only thrill seekers need apply.)
In our last chat, we had a fantastic time discussing a veritable cornucopia of tempting topics. What? You missed that chat? Well, don’t worry -- turn that frown upside down into a smile, because you can see our archived version of those discussions by clicking here.
In the case of this week's chat, the great thing about All Programmable Planet is that everyone has so much input and such interesting ideas that someone will set a conversational ball rolling, and everyone else will race around adding different thoughts and perspectives. I know that I, for one, want to give an update on state of our APP wireless mesh propeller beanie project. We're going to have a giveaway at DESIGN West; this involves the propeller beanies voting among themselves to elect the winner. And as for the prize... well, you simply will not believe what I have to tell you!
Interesting / thought-provoking image of the week.
The chat -- which is similar to using an IM (instant messaging) system, but which actually employs your Web browser -- will commence at 12:00 p.m. my time (Central USA Time), which is 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time, 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, and 6:00 p.m. UTC/GMT (you'll have to work out your local time from these clues -- or you can use this handy-dandy Time Zone Converter).
All you have to do is to click here at the appropriate time to join the fun and make your opinions known. (If you aren’t already a member of All Programmable Planet, now would be a perfect time to register.)
Re: Greetings from Ann Arbor, Michigan where I will be until dusk ...
@Max: Re:enchanting place...I remember it as being a "den of drudgery" where I am chained to the desk :-)
Well, probably both are true...
Remember, I only visit occasionally, so it is a pretty fascinating place! However, you see it daily and are reminded of the effort, stress, deadlines, etc. of those projects. Plus, I am only there for a few minutes (unless I make the APP live chat time) while you are "chained" for many hours per day... I can see the reason for our different descriptions and perceptions. :-)

@brian: Of course, it is ALWAYS entertaining seeing what neat ideas and projects are underway...
You make it sound like an enchanting place -- I'll have to go there myself sometime (I remember it as being a "den of drugery" where I am chained to the desk :-)

@intseeker: Re Max's comment: he just sits down at one of my computers
...after first rearranging many of Max's ongoing projects! Often, there is not a spare spot on his desk! :-) Of course, it is ALWAYS entertaining seeing what neat ideas and projects are underway...

@intseeker: Next time I will tell my friend Lanny to go sit on a different table
Instead, why not tell him to bring his computer, join APP, and join in the fun?
My chum Brian LaGrave is a member -- he lives about 40 miles away from me -- sometimes he's driving by and he will pop into my office -- if the chat is on he just sits down at one of my computers and we both contribute to the chat and brew fresh pots of coffee and stuff
Re: Greetings from Ann Arbor, Michigan where I will be until dusk ...
Wasn't that horrible? My appologies. In general I do a lot of things simultaneously, but absolutely not talking and driving or talking and, I just found out, chating on the computer. :0)
I was at a cute coffee shop in Ann Arbor on Plymouth rd called Sweet Water. I highly recommend as a variation from Starbucks and Biggby. As soon as I began to chat around 10 minutes past 1PM:, my 2:00PM appointment arrived. Even though we were not officially meeting yet, there was some talk and I started to dwindle, and couldn't come back on track until it was already too late to search for the right link to the chat. It felt as though I took the wrong exit in the middle of the Metro Detroit the first time you go there with no GPS.
Next time I will tell my friend Lanny to go sit on a different table until the very time of the meeting. (grin)

Re: Greetings from Ann Arbor, Michigan where I will be until dusk ...
@intseeker: "Hi to everyone present and incoming!"
This isn;t the chat (grin) -- thsi is just the blog reminding you about the chat -- if you scroll down the blog you will find a link to the chat (which just finished LOL)
However if you click that link (it's a little way under the picture) you'll be able to see what everyone was talking about...
.... and I spend 50% of my road time trying to follow my iPhone mq GPS assitant and 50% learning Hebrew, because one day I want to go to Israel and understand everything technological that is going on behind the sceenes. :0)
The appellation "primary colors" refers to a small collection of colors that can be combined to form a range of additional colors, but which "small collection of colors" should we use as our primaries?
